A tribute to my great grandmother who was a costume designer for the opera in Budapest. She was one of the first people to predict my future as an artist and fully support it.
The first piece is based off a photo of the first time we met. The second is an illustration of one of her costume designs.

It’s a Hussar, a type of Hungarian cavalryman, with the head of a Turkish enemy on his sword. Underneath is what is either a pelican, swan, or phoenix feeding its own flesh to its young.
